Year 7 Tadcaster Grammar School student Eleanor Lombard has struck gold with her design.
Eleanor, aged 12, entered a competition, along with hundreds of other children, to design a new coin to be sold at the Jorvik Viking Centre in York.
The Jorvik Viking Centre, which had to close because of the severe floods of 2015, launched a competition in Autumn 2016 for a child to design a new coin which will be sold on the reopening of the Centre.
Eleanor won with her fantastic design of Viking warrior Eric Bloodaxe and this is a wonderful achievement. Her proud Dad Simon Lombard captured the moment when she was presented with two of the gold coins and a framed certificate.
Eleanor also receives free entry into the Jorvik, Barley Hall and Dig.
Well Done Eleanor!
